Halloween Special: Free Short Story Collection!

My Spooky Tales collection of five short stories is free on Amazon until Nov. 1.

A haunted house, ghosts, a grandmother, and zombie pirates!

“The Demise of Bobby and Clyde” is an old fashion haunted house story. Bobby and Clyde are on the run after a bank robbery, unfortunately they decided to wait out a hurricane in a very creepy old house.

“The Broken Heart” is about Zach. He lost his lover and is trying to move on. He’s retired down to Florida and is restoring an old boat he found out in the swamp. On his trip down river he meets some mysterious folk that might help his heart mend.

“HIM” is a short psychosexual horror story about madness, delusion and murder. Imagine taking the bus home at the end of a cold winter day. The bus is full of all kinds of people with all kinds of problems. And as one slowly descends into madness he notices you. Would you notice before it is too late? Intended for mature readers only.

“Day of the Dead” is a story about Mateo and Alex building their relationship and overcoming cultural differences. Fortunately Mateo’s grandmother is there to help or is she?

“A Night on Blood Isle” is a short tale about a pirate island off the coast of Bennett Bay. Not the kind of place you want to get caught in the fog.

Character Art: Innes

“Dusk” by Jodie Muir

Innes Callahan, is a male witch character in a number of my books. I picture him tall and thin, with long black hair and steel blue eyes. In one dream sequence he appears as Cernunnos, the Celtic horned god. This image came through my Facebook feed and it was him. He’s even standing in the river. (He’s the co-owner of the Gator Tale, an Irish Pub built on the bank of the Big Cypress River, in Cooter Crossing.)

I’m buying a print of this to put on my wall and if a story comes to me, I may inquire about licensing this for a book cover.

Thank you to Jodie Muir for her amazing work.

Selected Scene: “Get on the bike”

Parker nodded and scratched his chest. Ethan realized he wasn’t wearing a shirt under his leather jacket. There was something hot about the leather over his naked torso. Even in the darkness, he could see the outline of his pecs and abs. “What happened to your shirt?

Selected Scenes are a recent scene pulled out of my WIP. They are raw and minimally edited.

Back to posting! My chest cold turned into bronchitis that took a good six weeks to get over. I’m back to writing and posting again.

Ethan kicked at a rock on the walk sending it out into the darkness of the lake. A kerplunk sound came back as it hit the water. He stopped and grabbed the rail. He pulled on it testing its strength. He had a restless-pissed-off feeling he didn’t know what to do with.

He wanted Sean, but he wasn’t here. It pissed him off that he wasn’t here and it pissed him off that a few days without him was screwing him up. Something was bottled up inside. He wanted to run, to scream, to fuck. His hand twitched. Usually he’d draw when he was upset. But what would he draw now? Continue reading “Selected Scene: “Get on the bike””

Of Paradise & Purgatory ebook now live!

The ebook is now live on Amazon!

Going home can be hell, even if it’s paradise.

Victor Cruz returns to the Arizona town where he grew up to bury his estranged father, and dispose of the family’s ancestral home. The plan: get in and get out. A stop at Santo Domingo’s Lady of Guadalupe chapel compels him to offer up a simple prayer, “May I do what needs to be done,” and starts a landslide of events-old friends, old loves, and who is in collusion with the murderous Cumero Cartel? “Of Paradise and Purgatory” is a contemporary tale with a seasoning of faith & magical realism.

Hack, cough, weeeeeezzzzz

So a chest cold has settled in and the word based creativity has dwindled as the day has progressed, so I decided to update the Steamboat Days poster! I’m currently in the middle of Chance’s concert on Friday evening. Yes, this book will be longer than I expect, as they usually are, but it’s fun writing it. Hope everyone’s weekend went well!
